Fiber is coming!
12:44PM October 04, 2017
To say that we are excited to be announcing our commitment to bringing fiber Internet service to our members and communities does not do justice to how we feel. Our enthusiasm stems not from any selfish thoughts as a business (after all, our gain is your gain since you are the cooperative), but only from our ability to meet your needs and desires with high quality service and reasonable prices.
We understand the eager anticipation you have to get consistently high performance both reliably and affordably, and appreciate your patience as we have been planning carefully how best to proceed. Certainly, the logistics of how and where we build, what services we offer, and how to make best use of our resources has been a significant undertaking. However, we have also spent considerable time planning how best to communicate with you all throughout this immense project; it is this planning that has prevented us from announcing our intentions before now.
Rest assured, we would love to communicate that we will be reaching all of our members in a very short time. The reality is, however, that the magnitude of the project and the considerable costs require us to project full deployment over a period of five to six years. The good news is that you and your neighbors have significant influence over the schedule of when your area will be served. Using this web site, register your interest and encourage your neighbors to do the same. There are many factors that contribute to our priorities; however, interest levels of our members is one of the very important considerations.
For those of you who are not members of Consolidated Electric but live near where we serve, do not lose heart! As we build out to our members, we will be evaluating the practicality of serving other areas that might help us accelerate our full deployment to our members. So please feel free to register (and encourage your neighbors, too); just know that we will be focusing primarily on serving our members first.
Again, thank you for your past and continuing patience. As we move forward, we will use this site and other media to keep you up-to-date with our planning and our progress.
